Bugala is located in Nakasero on Plot 2 Kyadondo Road, less than 100m from the Ministry of Public Service. It has been here since August 2003. Before that, it was on Makerere Hill Road where activities with students and professionals begun in 1997. It is run by Kyoga foundation, a local NGO that promotes character development through training and education. Since it's inception Bugala has helped many people discover that they can be better members of society through their work well done and a life lived at the service of others. This has been achieved through the different activities that the centre organizes. The centre is open to people of different creeds and backgrounds. Activities include; professional forums: get-togethers with distinguished personalities; social welfare projects; talks, both professional and spiritual; excursions etc. The centre has a study with seating capacity for 40,which is open to secondary and university students, and a well equipped computer laboratory that offers short courses.

The spiritual activities organized in Bugala are entrusted to Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church.

History

Bugala was opened in 1996 by a group of professionals from different parts of the world to offer formation to students and young professionals to help them be loyal,hard-working and God fearing Citizens. It was first located on Makerere Hill Road until 2003 when the centre moved to its current location on Plot 2 Kyadondo Road, Nakasero that provided a more spacious environment suited to it's activities. As early as 1996, Bugala organized the first work camp that was held in Matale, Masaka district. The camp brought together students from Ireland, Kenya and Uganda. Since then Bugala has organized many activities that have enabled many to discover a deeper meaning in their lives, including an annual work camp to bring students from different backgrounds at the service of the most needy in our society.
